UKNEONATALSUMMARY - Business Context

Summary

The BadgerNet Spine is the interoperability platform for the nationally hosted BadgerNet Women and Children’s Healthcare record system implementations.

The Neonatal Spine allows non-BadgerNet systems to write a subset of neonatal data to BadgerNet Neonatal via a standardised FHIR interface. This allows such systems to comply with data collecting standards that are currently enjoyed by BadgerNet Neonatal client users.

Solution:

  1. Standardised FHIR API: A FHIR API designed to accept and record neonatal care episodes. No further configuration on a site-by-site level, allowing quick rollouts of software for mutual sites between System C and the client system.

  2. Creation of Daily Summary forms: Built in business logic which converts FHIR bundles into BadgerNet neonatal daily summary forms. Once the daily summary forms have been created, they are ready for data collection and auditing.

  3. Fully audited transactions: BadgerNet Spine located audit trail of transactions which is all stored in Azure data centres.

  4. Participation in child single care record: The BadgerNet child single care record is an industry leading care record for neonatal care. The BadgerNet Neonatal Spine allows non BadgerNet sites to participate in this record.

The problems the product will solve:

  1. Removal of an outdated XML import interface for importing neonatal data from client systems into BadgerNet Neonatal

  2. Standardising the expected data to a universally recognised standard.

  3. One method of input for all clients which is nationally hosted and highly available on Azure infrastructure.

Benefits to the customer/client:

  • Ability for client systems to submit data to BadgerNet Neonatal via a standardised FHIR interface.

  • Industry standard collection and auditing of data, as seen in BadgerNet Neonatal.

  • Ability to calculate BAPM care levels in the same manner as BadgerNet Neonatal - the industry standard.

  • Ability to take part in the single care record of a child.

Unique selling point:

The BadgerNet Spine Neonatal Spine has the following unique selling points:

  1. Ability for non-BadgerNet Neonatal sites to create daily summary forms via data submission.

  2. Processing of daily summary forms for national data collection and auditing.

  3. Ability to access a single set or episode-specific demographics for child and parents.

  4. BAPM care level calculations for non-BadgerNet sites.
